Most of us have multiple email accounts. One for friends, one for relatives, one for colleagues and other for clients. Checking mail on all of them can be a very time consuming task, entering usernames and passwords again and again. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could send and receive emails of all accounts from a single place?
I have 2 Gmail accounts, one primary for friends, relatives and colleagues and other is the domain one for clients and customers. But my dad also has a Gmail account where he gets his bank statements, that is mainly checked by me. So basically i manage 3 accounts.
I have set up filters and a forwarding system in Gmail that lets me Send and Receive emails from my dad’s account and from the domain’s account from my primary account itself.
How did i do it? Read on:
Set up filters in the account from where you want to forward email.
First, lets get all incoming email from your secondary account. Go to settings and create filter. Leave all the boxes empty except the to field where you enter the email of your secondary account from where you want to forward email.

Click Next Step. Check Mark as read. Check forward it to and enter you primary email address where you wish to get the mail delivered.

Now all the mail which comes in this address will be forwarded to your primary email address. Now you will have to create a filter in the primary email account so you can keep mail organized.
Open settings in your primary email account and create a filter. Enter settings as follows:

Now Enter the email address of your secondary email account from where the email is coming in the From field. Click next:

Check Skip the inbox, apply the label “Dad’s Email” in my case and also check never send it to spam.
Whats happening?
Whatever email comes into my secondary email address (Dad’s email) is forwarded to my primary address and lands in to the label “Dad’s email” without landing into the inbox. So i can check my email in the Inbox and dad’s in the label Dad’s email :)
Now i can receive email from the secondary address. Lets see how to send mail:
How to send email as your secondary email from the primary account?
Open settings in your mail Gmail account, Click the accounts tab. Under the Send Mail as column, click Add another email address. A dialog box will open. Enter the email of your secondary account in it. Click next. Click Send verification email. A verification email will be sent to your secondary email account, click the link in it. This way your email is verified. Sending mail as another email is no limited to just Gmail. You can also send mail as any other mail service like yahoo, hotmail etc..
Now whenever you compose a new message in Gmail, you get the option as which email address you want to send the mail as in the From box.
Result!

As you can see in the picture above, from the Compose Mail windows, i can send mail as any of the three email addresses. I receive mail in the specified filters and i send mail from a one stop compose box!
I hope you liked the post. Suggestions and questions in the comments!
