Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is a powerful smartphone which is yet to be released. According to sources, it will be released in mid-September this year. Being Sony Ericsson’s first mobile phone to run Windows Mobile 6.1 Operating system, the X1 is a horizontal slider phone with a 3 inch touch screen overlaying a full fledged QWERTY keyboard under the hood. With a 3.2 MP camera that supports video too, packaging support for almost all major networks like GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, EDGE, A-GPS and HSCSD and a whooping 256Mb of RAM, i think it is sure to be a true iPhone competitor. Speaking as a smartphone user, existing phones such as the entire HTC range completely outclass the iPhone in every department- except brand. The iPhone will always have a special connection with the average person in the same way as Windows, MS Office, Mac etc has a stranglehold on the computing markets.
In addition, Sony-Erickson are repeatedly losing money in the phone market due to enormous design faults. My girlfriend has sent her mid-range sony walkman phone back no less than three times in 5 months, and the second time (screen failure) it took a collosal 2 months to fix, due to- wait for it- a shortage of replacement screens due to the sheer amount of faulty devices returned.
Don’t hurt yourself buying this junk, don’t get your hopes up.

Heh! My friend’s SE W580i has gone for repair 5 times too. Broken keypad, broken side lights, keys not working, everything happens to that damn phone. SE == MEGA FAIL on certain devices. Infact, the price came crashing down from 14k to 10k in just a couple of months!
