Ubuntu has never been famous for its artwork, let it be wallpapers, themes or splashes. Keeping the same color tone of brown every time may be liked by some users, but it’s hated disliked by the rest. They do give us a superb and robust distro, but humans like to work with beautiful things, right? The wallpaper taken up for Intrepid Ibex, in fact sucks. And worst, the Ubuntu developers are turning a deaf ear towards the upset crowd.

There have been mock-ups of the Ubuntu desktop made by several artists earlier, but none of the wallpapers have been taken up. There are wonderful artists with stunning wallpapers, i just wonder why Ubuntu doesn’t take up one of them. That what open source is all about. Freedom. Freedom to take help from the community.
From the many wallpapers rumored to make an entry to Intrepix Ibex, Ubuntu 8.10 which is to be released on 30 October ‘08, Quick Tweaks has made a list of all of them. Check them out!
